MAKING HISTORY IN THE 21FIRST CENTURY
THE CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS
Due to the Shelter In Place imposed on Santa Clara County, there will be no on-site services at First Church. Please go to the Shelter In Place Worship tab above for this week's service.
Technically, the Shelter In Place presentation may not be in alignment depending on the device you are using (phone, note pad, computer), but you should be able to follow the service. Pastor Rogers will share a new message with us each week until we are able to "see each others face" again.
We are praying for the well-being of all who have been impacted by the Coronavirus. Please follow the guidelines of the CDC and your local health care agency.
Prayer is the key to the Kingdom: 2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. my people.
FIRST CHURCH MAKING HISTORY IN THE 21FIRST CENTURY
Come join us every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. for worship and on Wednesday nights for Bible Study.
Welcome to the First AME Zion Church San Jose. We are a community of Christians who love God and fellowship together, seeking to glorify God and live in the abundance of His presence and provision. Whomever you are or whatever your situation, we invite you to get to know us and discover how God is being exalted in the midst of this church. Our mantra “The Church Without Walls” reflects the Church’s acceptance of all people who seek salvation, have a desire to exercise their spiritual gifts and talents and need a place to worship. We open wide our doors and in the name of Jesus, The Christ, we bid you welcome! It is our hope that you experience the love of Christ and His presence as you explore our web site.
BISHOP POWEL ELEVATED TO PRESIDENT
OF THE BOARD OF BISHOPS
Bishop Staccato Powell, recently took the helm as president of the Board of Bishops of the 1.4 million-member AME Zion Church. In a heart-warming ceremony on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, the native of Hallsboro, North Carolina, stood before the auspicious gathering to accept the president's gavel from past-president Bishop Dennis Proctor. Many Zionites, friends and family attended the ceremony held at the Marriott in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. Bishops from across the United States and Africa were on hand for the event.
Powell, a Granite Bay, California resident, was flanked by his children, son Rev. Dr. Staccato K. Powell, and daughter, Missionary Supervisor Nicole Powell. The Powells painted a picture of elegance and love as the children gently wiped the tears of joy from their father's face. Powell's comments reflected his sincerity when he said, "It’s humbling to occupy the pinnacle privilege at such a seminal moment in time, I look forward to serving the denomination in this new leadership capacity propelling Zion into a new decade of service and kingdom building.”
