Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name!  This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.  The Lord is in His Holy Temple, let all the earth be silent before him.

The Apostles' Creed

 

I ā€‹ believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; 

 

The third day he rose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of  God the Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.  Amen.

Most Gracious Father,

 

God of all goodness and grace, we come before you with praise and adoration.  We beg your forgiveness for our sins and transgressions.  Our prayer is that you will be patient with us as we struggle to understand the world crisis that is upon us.  We know that you have all power in your hands and are standing on your promise to always be with us.

​

Many have been lost due to the pandemic, yet you have spared us and countless numbers more and for that mercy we are thankful.  Now Lord we pray for those who are lost in this world of sin.  And, Father, we pray for those who are physically and mentally ill.  We ask that you will ease their pain and console their minds.  

 

As we face another week of uncertainty, we are certain of the fact that you are God alone and besides you, there is none other.  So, we lift up your name, and thank you for blessing us.

​

In Jesus Name we pray.  Amen.

Today is ________________ Recognition Sunday.  Sister Aletha Johnson has prepared a video presentation in honor of those First Church members who dedicated their service to our Church.  Please join in giving a big "THANK YOU" to Sister Johnson and her "team" for a job well done.

 

The Board of Bishops of the AME Zion Church has announced the assignment of Bishop George D. Crenshaw as Presiding Bishop of the Western Episcopal District.  Welcome, Bishop Crenshaw to California and the First AME Zion Church, San Jose.  Bishop Crenshaw will visit the California Conference in mid-September.  More details will follow.
